Geeks on Tour Goshen pre-event workshops!Chris and Jim Guld (Geeks on Tour) and Escapees RV Club have partnered together to offer 3 pre-event workshops; #1: “Windows 8, hands on basics 6 hour workshop” $79 pp, #2: “Get to know your Android Phone or Tablet 3 hour workshop” $49 pp, and #3: “Get to know your iPhone or iPad 3 hour workshop” $49 pp. Workshops start Saturday morning,May 10, 2014.

1.Windows 8 Laptops: Hands-on Basics 6 Hour course, $79 per Laptop

Saturday, May 10, 2014   10:00 am – 5:00 pm (including lunch break)

When you buy a new PC laptop these days, it will come with Windows 8 whether you want it or not! Bring that laptop to this class (also mouse and power cord) and we’ll give you hands-on exercises to familiarize you with the new Windows 8 way of working.  We will mention the touchscreen commands but focus on using Windows 8 with mouse and keyboard.

You’ll learn:

  1. Start Screen vs. Desktop and the new Full-Screen or ‘Modern’ Apps.
  2. How to customize your Start Menu Screen
  3. Using Search
  4. Using the Corner Hotspots and Charms
  5. Getting New Apps from the Store
  6. Creating documents and file management
  7. Using Skydrive cloud storage

2. Get to know your Android Phone or Tablet

  • 3 Hours, $49/person w/device

Like a basic Driver’s Ed class, this workshop will fill in the blanks about important things you should know but don’t even know enough to ask.  You will learn by doing hands-on exercises. Bring your Android-based phone and/or tablet to this class.  Be sure it is fully charged, but also bring your charger just in case! (sorry, no Kindle Fires)
