Camp Reboot: Smartphone Photography

Hands-On smartphone photography class“Camp Reboot” has come to mean the technology workshop alternative to “RVers Boot Camp” at the Escapees events. If your partner is registering for the RVers Boot Camp, but you would prefer to learn about technology, we are offering two sessions of a special pre-rally workshop at the July 2016 Vermont Escapade. Hands on with your smartphone or tablet, exploring the camera-related features.

July 22-23 Fri & Sat 9 – noon: Camp Reboot, Mobile Style: Smartphone Photography

For people with iPhones/iPods or Android phones and tablets – from beginners to advanced, everyone learns something in this class. If you’ve never taken a selfie, or figured out how turn your flash on or off – not to worry, that’s where we’ll start. The class is hands on. You need to bring your phone or tablet as we will have you exploring and experimenting with all its camera-related features. Like learning to swim by jumping into the deep end, you will have assignments and you will need to discover the way your device works to accomplish them. The workshop will be held over 2 mornings or 2 afternoons and you will have homework assignments in between!

imageIn your pocket you have one of the most sophisticated cameras ever developed, it can do things that Ansel Adams never even dreamed of! Just a tap on the HDR button produces results that took hours of preparation in Ansel’s day. Don’t know what HDR is? We’ll teach you! Want to show that masterpiece to friends and family around the world? It’s a simple click on the Share button. Automatically backup all your pictures for safekeeping by using the free Google Photos app. Never worry about losing your phone again.

The camera in your phone also does more than take photographs – it can file receipts and save them for Tax day, it can scan QR codes, and deposit checks. That’s why we call the class “Smartphonography” rather than photography – we will show you some of these other uses.

This is a 6 hour workshop, limited to 16 participants. Bring your iPhone/iPad or your Android phone or tablet fully charged, and also bring your charger because 3 hours of constant use can drain the battery quickly. Pre-registration is required including a fee of $69, call Kim at the Escapees office: 888-757-2582.

July 22-23 Fri & Sat 2-5pm: Repeat of Smartphone Photography

What you Would have Learned in School, IF you had Computers in School!

imageFor those who didn’t have computer class when we were in school! This hands on class will fill in those holes in your knowledge. Using your own PC laptop, we present 6 topics over 4 sessions, complete with hands-on exercises. Wi-Fi and Web browsing, Know your Laptop, Word Processing and Filing, Maintenance and Safe Computing, Email, Open Session Q&A. Your laptop must have Windows 7 or Vista – no XP, and no Macintosh.

Fill in the Gaps
If you want to be more proficient with your computers, attend our  hands-on boot camp.  The teaching is geared to beginners but not complete beginners – you need to already be comfortable with the mouse and minimizing/maximizing/closing windows. We find that people who have used their computers for years learn a lot as well.  This is for Windows-based computers – either Windows 7 or Windows Vista, no XP or Macintosh.

The materials for the class include a printed workbook, a DVD of tutorial videos, and a special one month membership to a Geeks on Tour Online Classroom just for your group.

The pre-Escapade workshop begins August 26, 2011 with the first session at 1 pm and continues thru Sunday Morning, with lots of fun time in-between!
Participants may arrive on the Cam-Plex grounds between 8 am and 12 am Friday,
August 26, and remain parked in their full hook up site for the duration of Camp
Re-Boot and Escapade. To register for this event, please call Kim in
Livingston at 1-888-757-2582. Don’t delay….as the workshop is limited to only 24 folks! ($139.00 for a single or couple with one laptop using Windows 7 or Vista)
