I have read an article you wrote about how to create a trip on the computer in Google maps, then transfer the trip to the Android phone so I could use it to navigate without using a data connection while traveling.  I cannot find, so can you point me in the right direction?

Here is the article Google Maps and Multi Stop routes. It’s the second part that I think you’re talking about.

And it’s the video #415 that goes over it. I’m not sure I handled the ‘even if you have no internet part’ but – the key is starting the navigation when you DO have Internet. That loads the entire route into a cached memory so that, even when you lose your data connection, it will still keep navigating. As long as you stay on the prescribed route.

btw – the best way to find an article on this site is to use the menu: Blogs/Articles and then All Articles. That gives you a simiple list of all articles with the most recent ones on top. If you don’t find what you’re looking for right away, use Ctrl-F (Cmd-F on Mac) for Find and type a word that is in the title.

Google maps works well if you want to transfer your route to your phone. The only gotcha is that if you modify the route that is not transferred. Only thee fastest route is transferred.

Circumvention: capture the link with the modified route and send yourself an email with the link. Click on the link and Google Maps will open up with the correct routing.
