In the past, I have download photos from my Panasonic Lumix cameras to Picasa and they would remain there for editing, then I would upload them to GooglePhotos. In the past week, I downloaded photos from a Canon Powershot SX530 HS to Picasa and they were automatically uploaded to GooglePhotos; not desirable since I like the Picasa editor better than that of the GooglePhotos program. Is this a new policy of Picasa or a peculiarity of downloading from a Canon camera?

Jim

That does not sound like a new policy, or a peculiarity of Canon. It sounds like you got the Google Photos Desktop Uploader installed and it is set to upload all photos as they appear in a particular folder. All you have to do is go into the settings of the uploader and remove that folder.

Here are a couple videos that should help:

Appreciate the info in Mr. G’s comments!

Like I’ve said before, big fan of Picasa – I’ve been out of the GOT loop for a while – good to know folks are still using it!

Especially like the multiple watermark thing vs individual, third party required in GPs – among numerous other things.  They do carry over in to GPs, right?

Thx!

Thanks!

Bon Chance!!

Yes, I think you’re asking if Watermarks added by Picasa show up in Google Photos. Yes, IF you upload the photo after Picasa is done with it. It doesn’t synchronize automatically.

DnC in SC!

If photos downloaded to Picasa are automatically sent to GP, then edited ones are also?  And it doesn’t matter if you delete the original from Picasa – the edited one will still be there – or it’s like where I read somewhere all edits are copies, the original stay ‘original’!  Right!?

Thx!

If you edited a photo after it was uploaded, it’s not going to get uploaded again, so it will be the original online.
