How do I easily create a Monthly album? I thought I had seen you do it by continually shrinking the pictures but I can’t seem to do that on my PC. I can shrink to a point and then the PC won’t shrink the screen anymore, doesn’t make much difference, I can’t read the info anyway it is so small.

Thanks

I think you’re referring to the condensed view on a mobile device. You see it in this video¬†

You can also now tap the 3-dot menu -> Layout -> Year

This is only available on mobile devices, not computers. AND – what you’re seeing are not “Albums” When I say I have monthly “Albums” I mean that I create an album and specifically add the pictures I want to represent my life for that month. I might take 1,000 pictures in a month – they will all be in that Year/Month view. I only put approx 75 in my monthly album.

I hope that helps

Thanks for clarifying that it is only available on my phone. This drives me crazy that I can’t do the same thing on the PC. I understand some is technology but most isn’t. It isn’t just Google Photos but many apps do things totally differently than the website.

Another question. If I had a 2 in 1 computer could I do this on my computer if I put it into tablet mode?

No – the ability to condense into Year/Mo view is part of the mobile app, either iOS or Android. If you’re using a Windows computer – even in tablet mode – you’re still using the web browser version of Google Photos. I agree it would be very nice to have this capability on the Web version – please leave feedback to Google by using the 3-line menu in Google Photos, then choose Help and Feedback at the bottom.

Now – if you have a Chromebook, that can run the Android app on a big screen. See episode 142 if you’re interested.
