As of this morning when I try to add a new caledar on my Samsung Android (Galaxy A15) the entry box opens up as a Samsung entry (blue) rather than Google (green). I have selected Google as my calendar in setting so I have no idea why it has started doing this. If I add the same entry from my computer and then go back to my phone the new entry is there in green as it should be. What’s up?

I need some more detail of what you mean by ” I try to add a new calendar”

First, I assume you mean “add a new appointment to your calendar” but then, I don’t know what exactly you’re clicking on. For example, when I want to add an appointment, I open the Google Calendar app and tap +. There’s no way it could get added to anything but the Google Calendar because that’s where I am.

So, where are you starting when you add an appointment?

I open the phone app which brings up the cuurent week. If it’s not this week I just advance to the correct week and tap on the box for the time and date I want to add the entry for. That box is now outlined and at the bottom is “Add title” which I tap on to enter details. The outline should be in green to indicate it is going to my Google calendar but it is now blue and when I do the tap I see a box under “event” that says Samsung Calendar” and my email address. If I tap on that it shows some choices and warns me that the samsung calandar may not support everything google does. Clicking on the Samsumg entry does nothing.

However!!! As I was playing around again in attempt to document this more clearly for you I noticed that there was a green box labeled “Event” at the bottom so I tried clicking on it and that seems to have fixed things.  I have no idea how I got switched to the Samsung calandar. Probably an accidental tap (my cat likes to walk over my phone). Anyway it looks like I know how to fix it if it happens again.

Thanks for responding so quickly. Now I’m late for the video though

hmmm – I think I know where you tapped and I don’t think it has anything to do with your Samsung account. Any entry in your calendar can be either an event, or a task and they are different colors. It’s relatively new that you can select these on the mobile app. Next time you create an appointment, notice the “Event” or “Task” right below “Title” – I think you tapped on Task by accident.

I don’t think that is the case because the box outlining the area was already blue before I even clicked on Add Title. I don’t see the choice between Event and Task until I open that box. The only other place I see that choice is if I click on the 3 bars on the upper left. There was someplace in that menu where it referred to the Samsung calendar which I removed.  I think that if there were any entries in the Samsung calendar they would still display as it is checked and belongs to my gmail account. I think something caused the google calender to not be an option so it just used Samsung. I can’t recall now, but Event might not have been checked in the display from the 3 bar menu until I did it manually. It’s possible a Samsung update changed something but more likely I still suspect a bad click.
