Hi, Do you have a recommendation for a good video calling app for a smart phone that is available on both Android (our phones) and iPhone (our daughter’s phone)? A friend of ours uses Marco Polo to keep in touch with her family. Her and family members can record videos using Marco Polo and family members can watch at their own convenience, but therefore it is not interactive. Do you have recommendations for both interactive and non-interactive apps that available on both Android and iPhone?
There are many such apps, I haven’t used any of them enough to recommend one over another – they all have worked well for me.
Duo – by Google. Specifically meant to be a video calling app, you can also record a video message if the person you’re calling doesn’t pick up
WhatsApp – owned by Facebook. It’s a complete messaging app. You can simply send a text message, or you’ll see icons for phone or video as well.
Facebook messenger (Android app, iOS app)- this is actually the one I’ve used most often because most of my friends are on facebook, so I don’t need to know anything else (phone number, email etc.) I can just messenge them using Facebook messenger and if I want to call I tap the phone icon, if I want to video call I tap the video icon.
Let us know how it goes.
