Don just bought us new Apple 11 iPhones (and a new watch is on the way). I have LOTS of learning to do!!
I remember the trick you taught us: When the phone starts to ring and I don’t want to answer right away, we could either squeeze the phone or flip it over face down. The call would continue through to voice mail but it would stop ringing. The new 11 model doesn’t do that. It keeps ringing even when I turn it face down. Any little tricks for the new system? I don’t want to put it in airplane mode or even do not disturb……but I don’t necessarily want this particular call answered right now. I can I stop it from ringing without hanging up on it???
You can still press any button (volume up/down) or power button. That’s what we really meant by ‘squeezing’ it. Those buttons are on the sides so if you grab the phone and squeeze, you’re most likely to press on one of those buttons and the ringing will stop – unless your case prevents it. The ‘turn it over’ trick I think is just a Samsung thing.
Also, on the iPhone there is an extra button – it’s a toggle switch – just above the volume buttons. If you move it one way it mutes the phone. It’s a great thing to do when you go in to a theatre to watch a movie. Problem is, you need to remember to toggle it the other way when you leave the theatre or you’ll miss all your calls.
