Safari has always been on the grey bar at the bottom of my home screen. recently it was gone, and not with any of the other apps on the home screen or the next screen (scrolling to right).
HOWEVER, I find it if I scroll left from the home screen under “recently used” icons. I cannot seem to move it back to the home screen or to the grey bar on the bottom.
Has anyone else ever experienced this? do I need to re-download the safari app?
Joyce,
Sorry we didn’t get to answer your question on our show yesterday. If you watch Episode #53 starting at 7:23 for about 10 minutes you’ll see all the info about how to arrange icons on iPhone
To my knowledge it is not possible for an app to work … which yours does from the search screen … and not have an icon on one of the home screens. And, Safari is one of those pre-installed apps that will not delete. It’s actually part of iOS – you can’t delete it, you can’t install it, you can’t uninstall it.
When that happens to me, I always find the icon combined with others in some folder. It accidentally got dragged and dropped inside a folder. It can sometimes take a while, to look thru every icon on every screen and open up every folder on every screen and search the icons there – but it’s got to be there somewhere! Once you find it, you can long press until icons wiggle, then drag it back to the bottom – Dock.
If you don’t have folders that you really care about, the easiest thing to do is to reset your home screen layouts. It will put all the default icons (like Safari) back where they were when you bought the phone, and all downloaded apps will be individual icons (no folders) in alphabetical order. Settings->General->Reset->Reset Home Screen Layout
