I Use gmail on all my devices – no problem. Then I got a new ipad and gmail could not be set up with mail – only under a gmail AP. I was on the phone almost 2 hours with apple. Apparently, according to them it’s an issue of google. Google wants you to use an AP for calendar and email and not the apple mail and calendar. Anyone else having this issue and what to do.
First of all, I don’t understand why the Gmail app could not be installed on your iPad. I use gmail on my iPad all the time. It works fine.
But, if I wanted to use the Apple apps instead, that also is no problem. There are 2 places to check your settings:
- In the iPad’s settings, under Passwords and Accounts
check that your Gmail account has the Mail option turned on, Calendar too if you want.
- In the Apple Mail app, at the top left of the screen where it says Mailboxes – tap there and then scroll down to see the Gmail inbox, tap there to view that inbox
I’ve just tested it and all emails show in the Apple mail app, when I delete an email from my computer using Gmail, it is deleted from the Apple mail app. All is working fine.
Let me know what is different for you.
Please watch this section of Episode 30 of our show. It goes over the items above.
