I am pretty good with the computer but having so much trouble with gmail. I receive emails but when I send an email it says “it says the connection to the outgoing server “smtp.gmail.com”failed. Additional outgoing mail servers can be configured for mail accounts in settings.
I have changed my email password 3 times. I have 3 devices, it happens, then it doesn’t happen. Hoping someone can tell me what to do. The emails I send sometimes go to the outbox. HELP! Glad to have someone to complain to. Thank
The issue is fairly common especially among people who travel.
The outgoing mail server (SMTP) can be problematic when you connect to some WiFi hotspots. Sometimes they require local authentication before sending mail and you don’t have those credentials.
You can get around this by specifying Google servers in your mail account settings. Look at what’s in there now. It’s easiest to see this on a computer.
Go to the gear in Gmail and in settings, look for Accounts.
Everyone is different but you should be able to see what servers are being used by clicking on edit.
I did a Google search on What are Gmail POP and SMTP settings?
