I am traveling and am running out of storage on my iphone10. I use Photos and Google photos. I want to remove permanently some videos from my phone. I am traveling and don’t have a thumb drive.
if I delete videos in Apple photos will they also be deleted in Google photos?
if I move videos to Google drive is that a safe permanent storage place?
i now pay for extra storage in Google Photos. Can that extra storage be shared with Google Drive?
Thank you for your advice
Hans
Hello Hans,
Traveling is the best – way to go!
As for photo storage, see my answers below your questions:
..if I delete videos in Apple photos will they also be deleted in Google photos?
No – but make sure they have actually been uploaded to Google Photos. Realize that the Google Photos app shows photos/videos that only are stored on the device as well as the cloud copy. It’s best to delete from the device using the Google PHotos command.
- Open Google Photos and find the video you want to delete.
- Do not use the trash can as that will delete from EVERYWHERE – Google Photos cloud, Device, Apple iCloud
- Instead, swipe up on photo and scroll to the right to find the option “Delete from Device” – if you don’t see such an option it means that photo/video is not on the device – just on the Google cloud.
.. if I move videos to Google drive is that a safe permanent storage place?
Yes, but Google Photos (cloud) is a better storage place for all your photos and videos.
.. i now pay for extra storage in Google Photos. Can that extra storage be shared with Google Drive?
Yes, any storage you pay for through Google One (One.Google.com) is shared among GMail, Google Drive, and Google Photos.
Let me know if this helps.
