I have been getting a pop up window that my Clickfree need to back up my computer. This started happening about the time we returned from one of our cruises. Today I plugged in the Clickfree and the computer wouldn’t recognize it. I read on the internet that the company had gone out of business and a new Windows update had made some changes. Are you aware of it. Do you have any other recommendations for a quick backup, or should I just use a backup drive attached with a regular cable?
Sorry, I’m not aware of the status of Clickfree – we haven’t used it in several years. I wouldn’t be surprised if an update made it worthless now.
As for backups – any external hard drive will do, you can get a Terrabyte for $50-100 these days, then just use the Windows backup commands. If you need more info on that, I’ll need to get Jim on this. I only backup to cloud these days.
Everything I do, photos, documents, videos, spreadsheets … everything … is saved to either a OneDrive folder or a Dropbox folder – and photos are in Google Photos. If my computer died right now, I’d just get a new one and all I have to do is install my OneDrive and my Dropbox accounts – voila! everything is back.

FYI, I took Clickfree notifier off of the Startup, so no longer get that annoying message everytime I restart. There is no clickfree in the program area to uninstall and the searches on the web seem to have a WOT that isn’t green. Soooooooo I’m Okay. I have formatted my old backup Seagate Drive and will use it as a backup. .I really don’t need the backup, as I have Google Drive and OneDrive and Amazon backups.
Gary loves Patsy Cline and we attended a Patsy Cline, forever show last week. He wanted to be able to listen to her music on the Google Drive, but I cannot seem to get the media players that are supposed to work in the Google drive to become options for opening the song. The extension on the songs are cda. If I should post this to another thread, please let me know.
Best to you and Jim,
LuVerne
Hey Luverne,
Everything I know about digital music (not much) is in Episode 141 of our Button show.
My bet is that there is no music player for Google Drive that will play .cda files. Therefore, you need to either convert them to .mp3’s (a google search for convert .cda to .mp3 yields lots of results) OR find a player -iTunes?- that plays cda files.
Where did the files come?

The files were from the CDs that I have had for years and since we saw the show Gary asked me to load them, so he could listen to them. He uses a Pixelbook without any ports we thought he could use the Cloud. I uploaded them to the cloud and found out that there was no player on Google Cloud that I could install on the Cloud that would play that extension. I have now downloaded some wav files from Freegal through our public library that allow me 5 downloads a week, so I’ll pick up Patsy Cline from there. These files do play on the Google Cloud player, so Gary can listen either on his phone or the Pixelbook when on the internet. If we are going to be without internet I’ll just have him download them to his device.
Thanks for you responses, I am learning more and more about the digital world. I couldn’t get my TurboTax to download the state forms and so I spend a few frustrating days trying to resolve that problem. We had a CD that was supposed to allow for 5 machines. Evidently someone must have registered it twice, I finally resolved it after a restless night by purchasing it online at TurboTax and downloading it. Oh, well. Today I am meeting with the lady at the library to try and get an issue of not being able to sign in on my SurfacePro to RBdigital. I can sign in on my phone.
Again, hope you are doing well.

Yes, I think yesterday was a good day, I solved several issues that I was having and had a much better sleep last night. You and Jim have given me many hints on resolve issues that I have. Thanks. We are leaving two weeks Monday for Puerto Rico to board a Viking Ocean liner that will take us to Brazil and 8 days on the Amazon River visiting four cities. If you are interested I will share our map with some pictures when we return. We’re getting up there in years and we have two additional international cruises. I think after these are completed we’ll stick around the US and take driving or river cruises here. I don’t know if I ever told you that Gary had to have surgery for Hydrocephalus four years ago, and even though he’s doing well he gets tired and he and I’m old enough that these trips are beginning to wear us down a bit. We appreciate all of the times we have been able to attend your seminars, and I’m stubborn, and that has created my perseverance , I’ve had it all of my life.
