Backup & Sync apparently missing some of my drives. They Dashboard says 117k but there are over 200k on my PC.
I was watching one of your Google Photos videos this morning – did I hear you say GP doesn’t back up PC folders – just devices like my Android? Surely not!!
All my settings are correct.
Also, along this line – I took some photos last evening on my cell – the last 10 or 15 are not there.
I asked the 1st question last year – but can’t find where there was a response – how do I search!?
Well … there are 2 “Backup and Sync” one is a setting on the Google Photos mobile app, the other is software you need to download and install on your PC. On the PC version – you need to tell it what folders to backup – including any external hard drives. Here’s the video on the PC version
I think what you heard me say in the video you watched was “when Google Photos backs up photos from your computer, it does not maintain the folder structure” It will back up the photos from whatever folders you specify, but it does not keep them in folders online. Your Google Photos library is just one giant stream of photos by date.
As for your recent phone photos not getting backed up – that is usually just a glitch in your Internet connection, or the fact that you haven’t opened the Google Photos app – they don’t back up in the background, and it needs a good Wi-Fi connection.
As for finding a question you asked last year –
- At the top left of the forum screen, you should see your name as “Logged in as”
- Click the icon or photo that represents Your Profile
- You should now see info about yourself, scroll down a little and you will see buttons to “List topics you have posted to”
Hope that helps
