Hmmm – videos should upload to Google Photos along with your photos. Are the videos ones that were taken with the phone?
How are you seeing that they are not uploading? Are you looking on the phone – open Google Photos and tap the account icon at top right (your avatar) Towards the top of the screen, you should see a message about Backup. Does it tell you there how many items are being backed up? Can you tap on it and see the actual videos that are waiting to be backed up?
Does it maybe say “waiting for wi-fi?” If so, perhaps you have it set to use cellular data for photos but not for videos?
Whenever something is not working as it should, I go thru these steps:
- Force quit the Google Photos app (tap the phone’s multi-tasking button and then swipe Google Photos off the screen. Re-open Google Photos, tap the account button and see if backup has started now. If not, go on to #2
- Try manually uploading one video to “kick” it. Open the video in Google Photos, tap the cloud icon with the up arrow. You should see a notification “uploading 1 item” and, there will be a progress bar you can watch to see when it completes.
- Restart the phone. Check the uploads
- Uninstall the Google Photos app and re-install.
Let me know if any of this helps

Thank you so much for your reply. We haven’t had WIFI for the last 2 days. Our WIFI is slow – maybe that’s my problem. The videos that aren’t uploading are from my phone. Videos from camera that I downloaded to computer are in Google Photos. My Google Photos on my phone say it has 96 items left to upload – they are videos. Looks like it is trying, buy…..
I have restarted phone several times. I turned off auto back up and tried to upload video manually. Maybe our WIFI doesn’t have enough “umph” to do the job. I am going to make sure the videos are saved on the memory card in my phone (Android) and download it to computer. Maybe that will work. I will try all of your suggestions. Any more ideas – send them my way. Thanks! I will let you know if I am successful!
