I am downloading and organizing by digital camera photos and some Rose Parade and recent rolling trip to Mexico photos. I have a lot of photos downloaded over the years into PS Elements. Now that we take more Pixel Camera photos that download to Google Photos I’m have troubles. The photos are great but downloading them to PS Elements takes forever. The Google Photos are automatically on my Win 10 PC. They download automatically to Googles Photos. I keep my folders by year and date. So for a recent trip I took photos with my Canon EOS 80 and I found I also took quite a few with my Pixel Android phone.
After downloading from memory cards to PS Elements, I downloaded by date to the zip files and then tried to add them to my computer with the folders that were already downloaded to PS Elements. I started by doing about 10 at a time. I would transfer the zip files to the PC folders. It is a slow process. The last 10 photos say they will take all day!
Do you have any idea what I am doing wrong. I’m using a laptop and I’m going to try my PC, maybe it will be faster. I even upgraded your Google Photos 2018 Edition to a newer version that is an ebook so I can read it on my Fire. Thought it would be easier to follow.
It takes me longer to download the cell phone photos that to take them!!! What am I doing wrong? We’re taking a two month trip to Alaska this summer and I want to get this procedure down!!
Thanks, glad you had a fabulous trip south!! Thanks.
I haven’t used Photoshop Elements, but I believe it works with photo files that are in folders on your computer’s hard drive. Is that true? You can check by looking for your pictures without opening Photoshop Elements, or it’s organizer. Are your pictures there on your hard drive in folders?
I am having a hard time following your process because you’re using the term “download” differently than I do. To me “Download” means that files are in the cloud (online somewhere) and you’re copying them down to your computer. Google Photos is online storage so when photos get copied there, they are being UPloaded – that’s happening automatically from your Pixel. When you look at them from your computer, you go to the website photos.google.com and you’re seeing the photos in the cloud – they are not ON your computer.
So – there’s a lot to sort out here. I’d love to do a remote session with you (using Zoom) for a half hour or so, and see if we can get it cleared up. It makes no sense that 10 photos would take all day.
Just respond back on this thread if that sounds good to you and I’ll send you an email.

Thanks for getting back to me. Yes, PS Elements hold my Canon photos in folders. Each folder holds a photos by dates. I’m actually not sure if Google Photos are held on my computers (laptop and PC) in the cloud. I don’t know what ZOOM is. I’ll go back and read the Google Photos ebook again.
I’m glad we were able to talk on phone and share screens with Zoom.us today. It was helpful for me to understand your questions. I hope it was helpful for you too.
If you have time, I encourage you to re-watch this episode of our YouTube show: 138. Google Photos-how to include pictures from your computer, hard drives, and camera cards.
Can’t wait to see your photos from Alaska!
