Chris,
Follow up to my last post. You are correct that only one person can share your Photo Library. When Gail ( My wife) accepted the Invitation then the menu changed and it was obvious only one share was possible.
Not sure if I like it and I have two comments.
1. To share it you had to put your Google Photos Password in. I don’t remember every having a GP PW and looked at length in Last Pass but none existed. It is the Google Account PW that is needed.
2. Gail and I have a lot of the same pictures so now I see streams of duplicates. I think is better to just share albums. What do you and Jim think?

Agreed – the jury is still out on this feature for me. It would be extremely valuable for a couple where one takes all the pictures and the other doesn’t. Or for couples who want every single photo of the grandkids – the spouse can share library, limited to just those pictures including the grandkids’ faces. And, there may be more. But, I agree – I’ve gotten used to one shared album myself.

Sharing Google photos.
We have been sharing our Google Photos for a few months now.
Chris got a new phone last week. Both phones settings are setup the same. As of yesterday my husband’s photos & albums are not flowing to my phone. However my pictures are flowing to his phone.
I have turned both phones off and then back on again. No sharing of husbands photos with me..
I have put both phones on airplane mode then turn airplane mode off again.
I have checked both phones three/four times to make sure our settings are correct and there is no sharing of husbands Google photos/albums with me.
I have unshared the sharing of Google photos on both phones. I have reset up both phones to share our Google photos. Husband’s phone still not sharing photos and albums with me
My phone shares Google photos with husband.
Husband’s phone still won’t share his Google photos& albums with me.
What else do I need to do in order for husband to share his photos & albums with me?
It could just be a glitch. Now that you have it re-set up – give it a little time? So, now a couple days later, are his photos still not sharing with you? Did you get a notice that he shared his library? You need to Accept that before it starts working.
If it hasn’t fixed itself, this is something I need to look into.
Does a regular shared album work?
- Assistant, click on Shared album
- Add some photos, then click checkmark
- Share with him
- Does he get a notice in his Shared section?
- Can he add photos to that album?
- Do you see them?
I’ll try it here too. Actually, I have the same situation. I’ve successfully shared my Library with Jim – he gets my photos all the time. I’ve asked him to share with me but I haven’t seen it. Either he hasn’t done it, or I have the same problem. I’ll look into it.
