When I open a folder in Picasa 3.9 and right click on the various pictures in the folder; some say open with PS Elements 11, some say open with PhotoScape and other say open with Photoshop PS6. What controls these differences and how can I change or add to these lists?

If the pictures are the same type of file, e.g. .jpg files, then you should get the same list of choices. It’s controlled by the file associations in your operating system.

When you right-click on a .png type of file, you might get a different list. And, certainly if you right-click on a .mov type of file you will get different options for “Open With”

Does that help?

By gollies I believe you’re on to something….that’s exactly what happened. Some of the photo’s were raw and some were .jpg.

How can I change the asssoc to where I have a choice of all the photo editors I use to send a photo? I want to right click and see all of the editors I use and then select the one I want.

You can see the associations set for particular file types by searching in Windows for Associations.

Or, by navigating to Control Panel\Programs\Default Programs\Set Associations

This lets you set one program per file type. I’m not sure exactly how you tell it all the possible software per type.

When I right-click on a file in Picasa and choose “Open With” I get 4 different choices: Snagit, Chrome, Word, Picasa Photo Viewer.
