Is there a way in Google Photos to resize my photos? For example from 3 MBd to 1MB? or 500 kb? Is there an app I can get to resize them before they go to Google Photos?
I hate to have to download every photo to my computer, resize, and then send back to my phone via PushBullet.
PS I use windows 10 and there is no 3 dot menu on my photo app. the 3 dot menu in Google Photos does not contain a way to resize a photo
Nope – Google Photos doesn’t have a capability to resize.
Your windows 10 Photos should definitely have it
- Click on the Windows icon in lower left
- In the alphabetical list of programs, scroll down to P – Photos and open that. This is what I call the Native photos app.
- Find the photo you want, if it’s not right at the top of the dated collection of photos, you may need to click on the “Folders”
- Double-click that photo
- You should now see 3 dots in the upper right – just below the X for closing the windows
Why do you want to resize ALL your photos? I may have better suggestions if I understand your purpose.

The reason I want to shrink the MBs is so that I can mail my pictures easier directly from Google Photos.
Not too cool to be sending 4 and 5 MB photos. I have many photo editing programs to do the job, but it means sending the photo to my desktop, resizing it, and then sending it back to Google Photos. And that is slow slow slow
Thanks for your help.
I think the best way to email photos to someone is to send them a link – just use Google Photos, select one or more photos and click the share button
Type your friend’s email and click the send button. Google Photos does not send the actual photo, just a link. A link takes up no space in an email, yet when your friend opens the photo they get the full size and they can then download it to their computer if they want.
Let me know if this works for you.
