I recently transferred my photos from an old computer using Windows XP to a new computer using Windows 7.
How do I remove the checkmarks from the photos…and the arrows?
When you open your Photos, do you click on Picasa first ;or do you go directly to My documents, My pictures?
Since I transferred my photos over to my new computer, I have a garbled mess!
Not sure what you mean by checkmarks and arrows. The symbols on the picture thumbnails are put there for information by Picasa – you don't remove them.
Take a look at this article for info on all the different symbols you see on photos in Picasa:

You should open Picasa first, not My Pictures. Picasa will show you the pictures in My Pictures. Picasa does not store your photos, windows does that (in the My Pictures area) but Picasa is your tool to work with them there.
