I editted one pic Picasa. Added several tags (like onetag, twotag, threetag). Created an album and synced with web. In Picasa Albums the tags show in the info panel of the picture and they are searchable.
In Google Photos – the tags exist because they return the proper images when searched…but when you look at image in Edit mode – the tags do not show nor does it appear you can ADD any.
Another point regarding Tags…since Picasa is just a view of your picture folders = when you upload them from G-Photos – they will be uploaded from their original folders without any Picasa “overlays (tags). All Picasa tags will be lost
Can someone verify this?
I agree. Tags do seem to be taken into account in a google photos search, even though I can’t see them in the info in Google Photos or Google Plus Photos. In Picasa Web Albums I can see them only if I open the full Details page.
As for Google+ getting the pictures from their original folders and therefore not including Picasa “overlays” that doesn’t apply to tags. If you notice, when you add a tag to a picture, you can immediately view the picture in Windows and the tag is there in the properties. So, tag is immediately saved to the metadata of the picture even when added within Picasa. BUT, there is a timing issue. If the photo had already been uploaded to the web, an addition of the tag does not trigger a sync. So, it’s still an issue. I sure hope that Google has tags on their todo list!
