Since Google Photos came on the scene, I did not notice any difference in creating a Web Album. I have done 5 or 6 in the past week. Yesterday someone in our photo club asked me about Picasa’s web storage and I told him I would send him an invitation to one of my albums so he could see what it looked like. Then if he was interested, I would show him how to create these albums.
Was I in for a susrprise!!!!!!
Opening Picasa, I was all signed in as I knew I should be. I clicked Web Albums on the Picasa menu. What I got was Google Photos and I could not find how to access an already created album to resend it to this club member.
Now I am a bit worried.
So I looked on the Geeks forum for some information but did not find just what I wanted. OK. Google to the rescue.
Was I in for another surprise!!!!!!
I googled Picasa Web albums and clicked the link that looked most promising. http://www.picasaweb.google.com
And what came up were all my old albums – about 50 of them from the past 5 or 6 years!!!!! How did this happen?
Why did my albums appear on this web site?
(Google is giving us quite a ride with so many big changes. GMail, too.)
Yes, Google is definitely giving us a ride! I’m actually enjoying it!
One thing I think they have done very well is to maintain all our pictures and albums that we have uploaded over the years whether we were using Picasa Web albums, Google+ Photos, or Google Photos. Think of it like one room with 3 doors. Whenever we have uploaded photos to our Google Account, it goes in that one room. All 3 doors to that room are still there –
- Picasa web albums: https://picasaweb.google.com/l…..redirect=1
- Google+ Photos: https://plus.google.com/photos/+
ChrisGuld/albums (substitute your username for chrisguld)
- Google Photos: https://photos.google.com/
All three doors depend on you being logged in to your google account.
You also need to know where to find albums in Google Photos. Click the 3-line menu, choose Collections. There’s a dropdown arrow next to Collections to get to Albums.
Here’s a brand new video I made about Google Photos Albums:
