There are many reasons why this could happen and it is not unusual. It has happened to me. Solutions are just as varied. Break it down into three pieces. 1.Phone 2.Cable 3.PC.
Step one is always reboot. Disconnect the cable and restart the pc. Turn the phone completely off and back on. That’s the easiest thing to try first. Bypass any USB hub, plug directly in.
Try connecting the phone to another pc. If it is recognized by another computer, you can rule phone and cable out. Some replacement cables do not have data capability. They only charge the phone. Try another cable.
If it comes to the PC, here is a website about troubleshooting USB: http://www.online-tech-tips.co…..ecognized/
There are wireless ways to transfer files, too.
