I want to store certain photos and documents on an external drive by scanning them but I don’t want to use up room on my computer.  So can I scan directly into my external drive?  Thank you

I’ve heard of some scanners that can scan directly to a USB drive.

Most scanners I know are meant to be connected to a computer.

If your external drive is also connected, the software that does the scanning will allow you to select a target folder for the scanned files.

The files will not be stored on the computer’s local internal drive.

You should have a reliable backup copy of all important files.
