Is there an easy way within Picasa to export the image captions into a word processor or Excel?

Also, is there an easy way within Picasa to “find” images that do not have a caption?

I’m afraid the answer to both questions is No.

To export, you would need to individually copy a caption and then paste somewhere else. Same with finding uncaptioned photos – you would need to view one photo at a time, clicking the arrow to go to the next.

Sorry.

I did see that a button can be added to Picasa that would export captions but creating and installing the button seems extreme and the instructions for doing so were vague/confusing.

Is there a third party tool that you could recommend that can export the Captions?

Sorry, I have not heard of that – and I would not expect any 3d party tools to work now. If you want to send me a link, I’ll take a look.

Interesting. I’d forgotten all about custom buttons with Picasa, but this reminds me of when I used to teach how to install a special button for going from Picasa to Facebook.

Your link looked promising at first, but when I tried to follow the instructions, I ran into dead ends.

You know, when you add a caption using Picasa, it shows up in Windows. It might be more fruitful to find a windows method to get captions from photos. For example, Exiftool, or Irfanview may be able to extract descriptions/titles from photos in Windows.

In researching your question, I found a page with a video that explains this all pretty well.

Thanks for the follow up. I’ll experiment with the options to see if they can help me export the captions.
