Comment: Good morning.
This is my first day although my premier membership started last June.
I am a person with thousands of photos– all managed by Picasa on my old Dell XPS computer (which I left when it started making funny whirring noises) and I would like PICASA on my new XPS.
I followed your directions for downloading PICASA.
I selected “download for members”, “Picasa for Windows” and got a screen that said “.exe cannot be previewed.”
I do not have DROPBOX, so I closed the sidebar on the left.
I selected “Direct Download”.
I got a box saying I had opened PICASA 39-set up.exe
and had to select either save or cancel.
I selected save and nothing happened. (I did that 3 times, start to finish–apparently nothing happened).
So I repeated the process and selected cancel.
Again, nothing appears to be happening.
Did I not wait long enough?
Has it been down loaded? and I do not know it? –Where would I go to see that it has?
Thank you for your help.
If you’re using Chrome as your browser, you should see your download as a temporary message at the bottom left of the screen. You can click there and choose Install – or Open.
If you don’t see it, your download was probably saved in your ..\downloads folder.
If you don’t know what I’m talking about – video 574 might help. Most of the video is about Google Photos, but at 2 min and 10 seconds in it shows the issue of how to know where your downloads go. Here’s a link right to that spot. Link
Let me know if that works for you, if not we’ll go to plan B 🙂
