I have a student that uploaded all her photos to Google Photos using the original high quality instead of the space saver.  Now she has to buy extra storage.  Is there a way for her to convert back to the space saver format?

Yes, it’s called “Recover Storage”

Open photos.google.com and click the gear icon for Settings, then make sure the “Storage Saver” is selected and click “Recover Storage” Click the thumbnail image below to see a screenshot.

What this does is to retroactively compress all existing photos and videos to the storage saver size. It should reduce the storage usage by at least half. It may take a while – a day or two.

Let me know if that helps.

Yes!  The “recover storage” worked like a charm!  Thank you!!

If I had looked closer through your wonderful book, I would have found the answer on page 15.Embarassed

Great!

btw – I moved this post to the public forum on Photos, instead of teacher’s lounge, as others may have this same question.
