I need a little more information – When you say that you installed Google Photos and Backup and Sync, are you referring to installing the app on your phone? Or the software on your computer?
In either case actually, the “backup” means copying your pictures to your Google Photos account in the cloud. Go to Photos.Google.com using a web browser, make sure you’re logged in with the same Google account you specified in the Backup and Sync settings, and you should see all your photos there.
Let me know.
Then … if you want another backup on your computer, you’ll need to use the Preferences for Google Drive on the Backup and Sync software on your computer. There’s a full explanation in my book, Mrs. Geek’s Guide to Google Photos. As a member, you can get the .pdf on the eBooks page of this website. Then read thru Chapter 13.
