I have made several Gif animated pictures but I am unable to get text to appear above the post.

I upload several continuous shooting photos from Picasa and place them in my family circle until I have been notified they have been converted to Gif.   I then delete all the extra photos and just keep the animated one and I then share it publicly.  The text does not show until I double click on it and the text then shows in the right hand pane.

Can someone help me with this please.

Thanks

Margaret,,

I’m not sure what text you are referring to.  Are you referring to a post with the .gif?  Or are you looking in your albums?  Can you give me a link to one?

Thank you for your prompt reply.
When I view this on my Google+ page it has the caption “Shadow Dancing in the Park” above it where it should be.

This is the first time I have been able to achieve this.   I didn’t share it with anyone when I uploaded it from Picasa (like you showed in one of your videos.)   I deleted all the none animated pictures and then dragged the gif into the “What’s New” box and the text appeared  above it.

There are so many twists and turns in this program!

Margaret,

There are so many twists and turns in this program!

SOOO true.  Google+ Plus is more of an ecosystem than a program!  btw -that is a fantastic animated gif.  I love the idea of Shadow Dancing!

I think you’re just seeing the difference between the display for photo albums where captions show in the sidebar, and the display for your Home Page “Stream” where your picture is part of a Post.

BUT – I still don’t know how a caption for a picture became a post.  When I share a picture, the caption does not appear anywhere in the post – only in the sidebar when viewing the picture alone in albums.  The text that appears above the picture comes from the “Messsage” that is type during the upload process.  See my screenshot.

So … how did you “then dragged the gif into the “What’s New” box ”  I can’t find that option anywhere in my Google+.

Are you maybe using a mobile device?

Upon closer inspection … when I upload a picture with a messsage entered in the message box, the caption doesn’t appear anywhere in google+!  The message text is in the place where caption should be when viewing the picture in Photos.

The lesson I take from this is to NOT enter a message when uploading pictures.  I can edit the resulting post later and add text then.  I want to keep my captions in tact!

Does this explain anything that you’re seeing?

Aha! I see where you got the What’s New box.  That’s using the Google+ stream where you share updates with circles.  I just haven’t used that directly.  I tried it and I still don’t get the caption text to show up :-(

There is another new thing there though … Add Text to Picture.  So that’s how people are doing it – putting that big text on photos to turn them into ‘memes.’
