Totally Frustrated with new Google Maps

I am trying to put together a travel map of the year and have 70+ locations I want to show on a map of the us.  I am so confused with My Maps, My Places etc.  I just want to show a blue dot at these locations, and connect with a line in sequence.

I tried import a spreadsheet with City and State and after half a dozen tries that did not work either.  I tried .xlsx and .cxv format and no success.

Is there a tutorial on this? I saw the old one but must not be doing something right.

Thanks,

Randy

My bet is that your frustration is coming from its limitations on number of objects allowed.  Try using an .csv file with less than 20 spots.  I just tried importing a .csv file with about 35 locations and I got an error.  I tried with only 15 locations and it worked fine.  Here’s a screen shot of my data and the resulting markers.

I can’t find any information on absolute number limitations, still looking.  I agree the new maps is quirky, I”ve been waiting for the dust to settle to do some videos.  But … it does have some cool capabilities.

I have discovered another mapping website you might want to look into.  It’s called Zeemaps: https://www.zeemaps.com

Let me know how it goes.

I discovered that Bing maps allows 25 waypoints. I just took a picture of the map with Windows snipping tool. It’s a bit fuzzy, so next time I’m going to Try coping with Picasa as Jim suggests. Here’s my blog: http://www.busbloggers.blogspot.com

To take a screenshot of just part of your screen (just the map) you can use the Snipping tool. It’s built in to windows – just search for Snipping tool, click New, drag around the area you want to copy and then use the Save option to save a .jpg file of what you just copied.
