I haven’t tried mapping on Google maps for a trip in many months of the pandemic. I am trying to set up a very long trip, in segments, for next year. I thought there was a way to save a Google Map to My Maps, but I am having difficulty finding the save to my maps button. I find the send to phone, which will help when we’re ready to go. I can print the instructions. Maybe something has changed since I used the maps last.
Thanks, LuVerne
Hey Luverne (something go corrupted with your original message, so I re-created it)
If there ever was a way to export a trip from Google Maps to Google My Maps, I don’t remember it. The only files that can be imported to Google My Maps are Excel files (csv, xlsx) or GPX or KML. Google Maps doesn’t store your info in any type of file, it is just a listing of destinations. There is a conversion website that claims to convert a Google Maps trip to a GPX file, but I just get an error when I try it. Maybe you’ll have better luck … it’s https://mapstogpx.com/
You can go the other way (kind of) – My Maps to Google Maps – by viewing a saved My Map in Google Maps.
