Hi Jim and Chris,

I have downloaded the Elks Lodge POI from The POI Factory and have tried to add the sites to My Maps.  The first Lodge on the list is Anchorage,  After adding the list I always get the Anchorage Lodge information along with the description of the lodge I have clicked.  Can’t figure out how to get rid of it and only get the one location.  I have downloaded some other files but haven’t had any trouble with them.

Thanks.  Frank

The only Elks lodge poi I see in POI Factory is in .gpx format. Google Maps can’t use that. Did you use some conversion utility? Or did you get another file I dont’ see? The .csv or .xlsx (Excel) files work the best. Then you can look at them in Excel first and tweak the data.

Here are a couple of videos on it, in case you haven’t seen them:

  1. Import Placemarks from Spreadsheet #379
  2. Import POI Data Set to My Maps #380

I discovered my error!  I had converted the file to excel and changed some of the data BUT had not changed my header row so it had the name, address, lat/long, etc.  Therefore, I was always getting the Anchorage Lodge info with the lodge I clicked.  Got it now.  Had watched your video on it several times but it finally hit me.  I frequently re-watch your videos to remind me how to do something.  They are very helpful and I appreciate having them.  Thanks.
