Adding air and water paths to Google My Maps

I noticed that your 2017 travel map includes your flight paths to and from Europe. How did you add the paths to the map? Could I do something similar for a ferry route?

My lines to and from Europe are made just with the draw a line tool. When the line is long enough it curves like that. A short ferry route would not be curved – just a straight line from one point to another. Here’s the video:
