Yes, because … realize there is only ONE photo, no matter how many albums you put it in. The album is just referring to the one actual photo that is in your Google Photos library. That one photo has been marked as a favorite. You will see the star on that photo in every album of which it is a part.
BUT – and I just noticed this – you don’t see the star on the photo (identifying it as a favorite) while looking at the whole album. You will see the star when you click on the individual photo. It will also appear when you search for “album-name favorites”
