I used to be able to download voice memos from my apple phone to my iMac. But now there is listed a 3 step process that could take days as I have many voice memos saved on iPhone and iPad. I would like them all to be together as they are important for my work and I need the room on iPhone and iPad to use on iMac off my cloud.
I don’t use voice memos or Mac (but I do have them available for testing), so I’m guessing here …
First let me be sure I understand: You have lots of voice memos. You want them on your Mac, and off your phone and iPad because they’re taking up too much space. Is that right?
I expect that you used to use iTunes to move memos from phone to mac, and now they use iCloud and not iTunes. If you have Voice Memos turned on in iCloud then all memos will automatically be available on all devices, phone, iPad, and Mac. The problem is you can’t delete them from the phone without iCloud syncing that deletion everywhere else.
First question: are your memos showing up on your Mac? If not, check these settings
- On your phone, go to settings, tap on your account icon on the top, then iCloud, scroll down to find the voice memo app and make sure it is turned on – to use iCloud
- On your mac, click the apple icon in upper right and select System Preferences, then AppleID in the upper right
- (image 1) On the AppleID screen, click the options button next to iCloud Drive
- (image 2) On the next screen find Voice Memos and make sure it is checked
Let me know if this helps. Then we’ll tackle the next step of clearing them out of your iPhone
