I would like to be able to connect remotely to my wife's computer to help her out when she has a computer problem but haven't been able to do so. When I start “Remote Desktop Connection” and enter her computer ID, the program can never find it. I must have to do something else but don't know what. Can anyone help?

I can't believe no one out there know's how to do this.
Well Bob I have not done this on a local network (you did not give much information on your enviorment) I do know when online servicing we have many connection issues the last one we had took 5 hours to find out the McAfree software was blocking the desk top connection.
Jim is good about helping out try giving him a quick email.
This forum is new some one could pop in with a fix for you.
Good luck!

I haven't used Windows 'Remote Desktop connection' much because I like Log Me In so much. It's free and it just *works*. Check it out at http://www.logmein.com

Thanks for the info. I checked out “LogMeIn.com” and that works fine for what I need. The only problem is that the “free” version is a 30 day trial and then it's $70/year/computer, it's a little too steep for me for the few times I need it. I'd still like to figure out how to use Windows “Remote Desktop Connection” function that's actually “Free”.
No … there really is a *free* version. What you saw is the free trial for the Pro version. If you look on their menu for Products … way down the list you'll see 'Free.'
Here's the direct link: https://secure.logmein.com/US/…..ucts/free/
Just pay attention when you download and click OK etc. They will continually try to get you to use the free trial for the Pro version (you can't blame them!), but you don't have to – I've been using Logmein Free for years. It's great.
