Hello again

I am not sure this is in your expert field but My Dear Bride and I are both having problems with our IPhones cutting out, off or whatever you want to call it, in our house.  Some one on the line will say “Your breaking up” or the phone will just go dead.  Happens way to many times.  We have contacted our carrier and they do their thing but nothing changes.  Should I change phones or carriers or what?  Your help, as always is appreciated.  Please let me know if this is not your thing.

Sorry for missing your earlier message – I’ll just handle this one now.

Cell service issues have so many factors, it’s hard to troubleshoot. I would think talking to your carrier would be the best help.

Here’s a little detective work you can do:

  • test your internet connection speed while just on cellular (wiFi turned OFF)
the easiest way to test speed is to open a browser like Chrome and search for Speed Test, you should see a button to test speed. This is a bit different than a phone call, but it should still be an indicator of your provider’s strength.
  • Go outside – is it better there? If so, it could be RF interference in the house. If your house has metal walls, that can be a problem
  • If the signal is weak from your provider because of distance, mountains, trees, etc. you may be able to improve it with cellular booster equipment like those sold by Wilson Electronics Weboost cell phone signal boosters for homes.
  • Do you have another source of Internet in your home? A WiFi network? If so, make sure that WiFi calling is turned on for your phone. On iPhone, it’s at Settings, Phone, WiFi calling.

Hope that helps

Just thought I would let you know what happened.  Contacted the carrier and they tried but could not change anything

so I changed carrier.  Now it seems to work fine.  Of course, had to change phones and found one with a great camera, the IPhone 14 Pro max.  WOW, what a difference and the phone works better to, so far.  Thanks for your help.  BTW are you familiar with the ProMax?LaughLaughLaugh

Snapseed is the only one on the list that I use. As for slow shutter speed, do you know about taking iPhone Live photos and then using the “Long Exposure” option? It makes the waterfall look soft and does a good job. See this video: 700.OT-Apple Photos Soft waterfall effect
