If you currently have a Verizon smartphone with an unlimited data plan, check to see if you are eligible for an upgrade now. If so, do it. Because Verizon will soon (June or July) end unlimited plans for grandfathered users. Read the full article:

We have been using a Verizon USB 720, with unlimited data for about 4 years. It is a 3G device. And we also have an external antenna for it that we can mount outside the RV when necessary. So far, as long as we don’t want to upgrade, we are grandfathered into the plan. However, we are hearing that the grandfathered plan may be going away. Can’t get a definitive answer to that yet.
So we are checking out the new Verizon 4G USB device and the new pricing plan. Does anyone have experience with the new 4G device and it’s coverage compared to the 3G? We find ourselves in a lot of fringe areas, where we do manage to get “some borderline” coverage on our present USB720 using the external antenna. The new 4Gs don’t have an option for an external antenna.
Appreciate any feedback.
Thanks,
Jay
