I have purchased over several years \”Streets & Trips\”with GPS. I have had the GPS quit working after a bit more than a year.

I am at the present time looking to purchase a new Streets and Trips as the GPS function on the present Streets and Trips has quit working.

My Question is, does it wearout or is it programed to quit after a crtain time period?

Doug,

I guess they can wear out, but I haven’t had that problem. I don’t think planned obsolescence is the culprit. More likely, a setting has changed on your computer causing the loss of connectivity.
Updates can sometimes do that, or plugging a different device in the USB port, or plugging the GPS into a different USB port. It helps if you know something about serial ports and device addressing.
I have had to change the port address where the program is looking for the GPS receiver more than once.
Here is an article on the process.
