If you have old google accounts with names that aren’t real people names, you may receive a message that your account has been suspended and you have to change the name. This is all part of growing pains with the direction Google has decided to go. It has always been perfectly OK to open a Google account with any name you like … our dog, Odie has several gmail/google accounts with names like GeekDog or TheTravelinHound etc. You may have a gmail account for yourself and your spouse together, HarryAndSally@gmail.com for example. If Odie, or HarryAndSally, decide to join Google+, they will need to change their name to something that a real person might have e.g. a firstname and a lastname. If you don’t do that, your account can be suspended. Google+, like Facebook, is for real people with real names.
If you have received a suspension notice, here is an official post from Google on how to appeal.
As you can imagine, a company like Google that provides free products to millions of people does not have a phone number you can call, or even a specific support email. The most common method for getting support is thru the Google Forums – aka Groups. In these forums you will find very helpful fellow users – they are volunteers – no one is required to answer your question. Occasionally, you will see an official Google employee answering questions in the forums.
If you really want to communicate directly to Google – RE Google+ – the only official way is with the Feedback form. From your Google+ home page, click the Gear in the upper right corner. You should see ‘Send Feedback’ as one of the options. Click on that, and you’ll get a form where you can communicate with Google.
