Hi, I’ve never used Google Drive before, and now I’m trying to use it. I’ve downloaded Google Drive for Desktop successfully, and I’ve tried uploading a folder from my computer to Google Drive. Then I ran into many problems.
#1: Instead of uploading the folder, it uploaded the files (all 4 of them) in the folder separately.
#2: I wanted to put the folders in a file and I learned how to create a folder, but had trouble transferring the files into the folder. I did get 2 of them into the folder, eventually. Drag and Drop did not work. I’m not quite sure what I did to get it to work.
#3: When I went back to try to see the files on my computer, only 2 of the files were there. The other 2 were gone. What happened? I thought the files would be on my computer and in the cloud.
#4: I’ve looked for information on your website regarding Google Drive, but only get info on Google Drive for Desktop.
#5: I don’t want to work with this anymore until I’m sure I won’t be losing any more files on my computer. But where do I start figuring this out? I thought it would be best to learn how to use Google Drive first, but can’t find this kind of info on your website.
Thanks for your previous help on Google Drive for Desktop….and hopefully you can help with this as well.

Hi Marcia,
Sorry, but no, I haven’t made any tutorials about Google Drive. I would recommend this video by Kevin Stratvert for an overview of Google Drive. Realize that when he talks about “Backup and Sync” – that was retired last October and it was replaced with Google Drive for Desktop.
If you haven’t worked with Google Drive before, it may be best to remove Google Drive for Desktop until you get accustomed to Google Drive all by itself. The syncing part of GD4D sounds like it’s messing you up.
If you want, we could arrange a phone call or a Zoom call to get you started on the right foot. Just let me know.
