Here at the “Snowbird RV Park”, a neighbor asked what I thought of the Chrome Web browser. After explaining as it is the one I use, he asked if I could install it on his laptop for him as he doesn’t know much about computers.
After the installation, he wanted his bookmarks brought over to Chrome from Firefox, a reasonable request.
This is where a problem started.
I clicked on the three vertical dots upper right corner, bookmarks, import bookmarks and settings. A window opened and I selected his Firefox browser, then selected all the items to import. Clicked the “Import” button and after a few seconds Chrome gave me a green check mark with notification that all bookmarks were imported.
However…. none of them were imported! I closed Chrome and re-booted the computer. Then started Chrome expecting to see his bookmarks….none were showing up. You can imagine the feeling I had when I realized Chrome failed me!
Question: Have you ever heard of this happening and if so, can you tell me what I can do to get Chrome to import his bookmarks.
A thousand “thank you’s” for your help Chris.
Not sure on this one.
Bookmarks are just a file associated with the browser. They may show up in the Chrome bookmarks as a separate list, not on the Bookmarks Bar.
You should see a button on the Bookmarks Bar that shows all the bookmarks. This is where you can manage all the different lists and maybe try the import again.
You can also export the bookmarks from Firefox to a file and do a manual import into Chrome.
Let me know.
