Agreed – the new Google Custom Map embed code automatically embeds the image of your entire map. Personally I like it – with the old way, I had to keep re-embedding it to change the view. Now it shows the whole thing and people can click on the part they want to see.
If you just want a static picture of a portion of your map, I recommend taking a screenshot and then cropping. See this video:
If you really need to go back to the old maps, just go to the list of all your Custom Maps, and on the left side you will see an option for “Classic Maps”
