I added a page to my blog for videos, and then uploaded a few of my videos from YouTube. But the pictures that link to the videos are too large, and I’d rather have very small thumbnails that serve as links. Apparently these pictures cannot be changed like regular pictures (small, medium, large) by right clicking the picture. Any suggestiong? Also, I discovered that you cannot link to a video in more than one place on the blog – or at least, I think that’s why I couldn’t make it work. arizonabirdbus.blogspot.com
You can change the size of the youtube video. You just need to hunt for it a bit. If you think of it while you’re grabbing the embed code from the Youtube site, you can look for the Height and Width numbers in the code and change before you ever copy it to Blogger. Where this screenshot says “420” and “315” you can change those numbers to whatever you want. Experiment to see what is best.
If you don’t remember to change the numbers until after the video is embedded in your blog, you’ll need to go into HTML view and find the code for the embedded video. It will look something like the text below, make sure to find all the instances of width and height and change all the numbers accordingly. In this sample it is the 266 and 320 numbers, they appear twice.

Good job making your maps and videos pages! Are you going to post the “Cruise Control” video?!

I think I’ll wait a while on that other video, at least until I resize the thumbnails. Thanks for the advice. At the same time, I am starting on another blog for our group. I have all year to get that going. And I have another project to do, all before we leave in a few weeks for our annual Quartzsite thing. So, I’m already spending a great deal of time on the computer these days. You inspired me to get a bunch of stuff accomplished when we met a week or so ago. Thanks, Chris.

I decided not to go the thumbnail route. I thought about the two size changes, thinking one was for the display on the post, and the other for how the video displays. Leaving it as is, the video plays inside the post – except on my tablet, the link jumps to YouTube and they clutter up the screen with all their other junk beside my video. So…….I just won’t watch on my tablet.
I have a question about slideshows, and will start another topic.

I was able to embed the videos and slide shows into my blog, but decided to not use thumbnails – just made the embedded image 432 x 432, and I might go larger. After all, my viewers are all around my age, and larger images are better. One interesting observation: When I view my blog on my Android tablet, one of the videos shows a grayed-out square and says “plugin not supported” – and all of my slide shows say “plugin not supported”. Slide shows are in archives 2007 and 2008, as I am back-filling a few posts of our Mexico trips.
