It so depends on the album’s purpose. If the album is for a particular trip then you just search thru the dates of that trip. If it’s for a particular purpose – for example we have an album named “Geeks Teaching” that includes anything about our audiences or videos or venues. I usually am just browsing my photos – when I find some that I want to be in an album, I select them and then click the + and add to album. I scroll thru to find the appropriate album and click it.

Searching for an album while trying to add photos has been my #1 feature request for 4 years now! I’ve let them know, every year.
Meanwhile, they have added one new feature – have you noticed after you’ve added one photo to the given album, the next time it shows at the top as a “recent album”
If you have one that is just impossible to find, here’s my workaround.
- From Photos main screen, use search to find the album you want. You type the first word of the album name and you should see the album in the suggestion list. You can’t actually click “search” because that will find all photos that match the search
- Open the desired album
- Click the ‘add photo’ button at top right and just add any old photo that was taken very recently. Done. This will force the album to be at the top of the list next time you adding photos
Let me know if that helps.
