Saw that you posted a comment on my newest blog for our neighborhood.  Nice to hear from you…however…I had tried to fix it so no one can post on the blog.  I have retried to “bar” comments but don’t always understand the blog wording.  Advice?

I send a “Letter of Invite” to my blog E mail lists with contact info of phone and E mail address for readers to get back with their comments.   I feel their comments are not needed by everyone.

Hey Roxie,

If you want this to be kind of private, I would change a couple of things.

  1. In Settings->Basic: change ‘Listed on Blogger. Visible to search engines.’ That’s the Privacy setting, click on Edit and change both options to NO
  2. Comments – although you could limit comments to only members of your blog, that means you would have to add each of them as a ‘member.’  To do that, you need to go into Permissions and specify the people that you want to be either an author, or a Reader.  That sends them an email, and then they would need to log in to see and comment on your blog.  I think your purposes would be served by just turning on Comment Moderation.  That means that anyone can type a comment, but it goes to you in an email first.  Only after you approve it, does it show up on the blog.  Here’s the video on comment moderation.  Of course it is showing it in the old Blogger format.  Hopefully you can watch the Blogger’s New Look video and find the new location of the comment moderation option.

Ah!  I just re-read your post and noticed that you don’t want comments at all .. so, go ahead and specify that ‘only members of this blog’ can comment, and then don’t add any members!

Thanks, Chris.   After swallowing hard to understand all of those steps to “no comments” I got to  your last paragraph that says leave it as it is.  This is Only members may comment and then do not add any members..  So…I think I am there now.  Thanks…Roxie
