Greetings Mr. & Mrs. Geek
My wife and I are getting ready to full-time and we want to share our travels with friends and family back home. My question is, for sharing a diary of our activities, including text, photos and videos, would we be better off taking the plunge and enrolloing in a web page class at the local Community College or use the Blogger program? We are comfortable with technology as far as emails, online shopping, word processing, spreadsheets and basic PowerPoint, but certainly not experts! We also don’t want to be tied down for hours trying to figure out how to add a photo caption, etc.
Any advice as far as the pros and cons would be much appreciated!

I think a Blog, and specifically using Blogger is by far the better way to go. Primarily because of how easy it is. The hardest part of writing a travel journal is … writing the travel journal! You don’t want anything to get in the way. Needing to understand how to build and maintain a website not only gets in the way, it stops most people dead in their tracks.
A second reason though, is how perfectly designed Blogs are for keeping travel journals. For example, I can visit my Blog (www.geeksontour.blogspot.com) and answer the question “Where were we for Christmas in 2007?” Just by finding the archives in the right sidebar and clicking on 2007, and then December. These archives get created automatically – no effort or knowledge needed on your part.
Do you know about HitchItch.com? It is a website that collects links to RVers blogs. You’ll find that the majority of people use Blogger (you can tell by the .blogspot.com in the address) The ones who do use regular .html, hand-coded, web pages are usually people who have known how to build web pages for a long time and enjoy practicing their skills.
Please watch a few of the videos in our Blogger Series, then come back with more questions ok?
