About the Geeks

We are Chris and Jim, The Geeks on Tour. Follow us and learn as we continue our 40 year careers in technology training and support.

  • In the ’80s and ’90s we were in the business world. I (Chris) owned a computer training center called Computer Savvy and Jim built PC clones and supported clients’ networks. (I was a client!) We were all about business applications of technology like WordPerfect, Excel, Novell, and MS Access.
  • In the 2000s and 2010s we lived in an RV, traveled the country, and became “The Geeks on Tour,” presenting seminars at RV rallies teaching technology for RV travelers like GPS systems, trip-planning tools, staying connected on the road, managing your photos with Picasa, and how to use those newfangled smartphones!
  • Now in the 2020s we’re in our third act (encore?) and have gone completely virtual. We use YouTube, our website, and Zoom meetings to continue teaching while enjoying our home in South Florida and traveling and scuba diving around the world.

We consider ourselves semi-retired, but we will never completely retire. I would go thru withdrawals if I didn’t get to teach/learn something! And Jim loves figuring out the equipment and tools for video production, especially for our live-streaming YouTube shows. It’s his job to make my lessons look good. This is a membership website, we charge a nominal fee ($58/year) to join us and get access to many members-only features. Our members have become like our family in our many zoom meetings, we support each other in this journey to make the best use of technology. A few of our members even travelled with us to Hawaii! Check out the photo album here.

I am designated by Google as a Product Expert (Diamond level) for Google Photos, so that is my primary focus for teaching but we also teach other related topics like using Android or iOS devices and other Google Apps. The more we learn, the more these things can enhance our lives and our travels.

While RVing we were nationally known, popular seminar presenters. Each seminar drew hundreds of attendees. Now, we are “YouTubers” with over 12,000 subscribers to our channel. If you become a member of Geek on Tour, you will get detailed show notes from our YouTube live streams, access to more of the tutorial videos here, private Zoom meetings for members, and many more perks. Join today – it’s only $58 yearly.
