Does Google Photos have a people section similar to the one in Picasa3 that identified pictures of people and kept a file on each person every time they were in a photo?  If so, how do you get to it and use it?

Thank you

Yes, Google Photos has a people section. It works very different from Picasa – and any work you did in Picasa to identify faces does not transfer.

Google Photos recognizes and groups faces together automatically. If you click on the Albums button, you should see a section called People. That’s where faces are grouped.

Let me know if that helps.

I found it and it is terrific!  Found out a lot more about it when I went to page 48 in your book.  Put names on a lot of the faces and found that when a face is selected, it shows the albums that person is in and then the pictures they are in.  I am working on grouping them.  I should refer to your book more often!

Having trouble getting rid of the pictures of people I don’t know.  Google Photos picks them from crowds, group pictures, or even pictures on a wall. The book suggests clicking on the small circle on each picture they are in.  I would like to eliminate each one in one swoop when they first appear.  For now I have labeled each one, and there are many, with the name of “Remove”.  They have become a group, it even asks if they are the same person.  Any way to get rid of them from their original picture?

Thank you very much.

I’m so glad the book helped!

As far as all those people that Google picks out that are not people you know. If you leave them unnamed, then they will all show up below the named people and you can just ignore them.

I have found I can only use the iphone or the ipad in identifying the names of the people in the pictures.  When I do it on the computer, following all of the directions, the name does not appear.

Is this correct or am I doing it wrong?

Thank you.

I don’t know what is wrong. YOu should be able to name the people albums using the Web interface on a computer. When you click on a person, do you see the words: Who’s this?

Yes I do, and I type in their name and it does not appear anywhere, even on the computer I did it on.

When I do it on the ipad or the iphone it appears on all devices.

Thank you so much for making the video.

I have been following those steps, however, when I name a person on the computer, it does not appear in the other devices (ipad, iphone or the other computers).

It seems like I have to enter the name on each device, which does not seem right.

Do I, or am I doing something wrong?

Thank you very much.  Really appreciate your help!

Just entering the name on one device is definitely all it should take. It may take a bit of time to get to the other devices. I have been known to force-quit the google Photos app on my iPhone then re-open it to see the name appear.

Am finding them slowly but surely.  They tend to appear in different places on different devices, but they are there.

Thank you.
